- Reached the rank of colonel then resigned in 2000 to stand for the parliamentary elections of 2000
- Was elected Member of Parliament on September 3rd 2000 and a second time in May 29th 2005
- Is a member of the National Defense, Interior and Municipalities Parliamentary Committee and of the Foreign Affairs Parliamentary Committee
