The Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform (OMSAR) has launched, early this year 2011, an e-learning project. This project targets a sample of one hundred employees from the Lebanese public sector to provide them with training materials via Internet and to test their response to this modern approach to knowledge transfer. For his part, HE, Minister Mohammed Fneish, stressed the importance and multiple advantages of this step that include:
Providing the trainees with considerable amount of information in a consistent manner;
- Selecting the training time by each trainee within the deadlines in a flexible way;
- Reducing the cost of transportation to attend classical training sessions;
- Increasing the level of concentration by each trainee on the material presented to him/her;
- Avoiding distractions or embarrassment the trainee may suffer from during a classical training session.
Moreover, the training team at OMSAR has organized a series of Orientation Sessions about the project. The first step included 20 e-training courses that were made accessible through the OMSAR’s e-learning Portal. The Orientation Sessions have stressed the importance of the trainees’ commitment to learning and self-development.
