OMSAR Organized the first PHP training for Representatives of the Public Administrations

OMSAR has always been striving to keep up with the use of the latest technologies and tools in the field of web development and their introduction to the public administrations. Accordingly, and within the framework for promoting self-capacity building programs for web specialists in OMSAR and the public administrations, we have been especially interested in the emerging "open source" technologies, mainly because of their importance and spread, as well as their significant cost savings for creation and programming of websites and their benefits in future projects of interest to the public administrations and the Lebanese state like similar initiatives which have been implemented in many countries of the world.

In that context, OMSAR organized a five day training course on the PHP programming language, with attendees from various public entities.

The course took place between December 12th and December 19th 2011 in Formatech Learning Institute, Beirut and were given by Mr. Firas Hamdan.

Attendees included OMSAR staff and representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Trade, Ministry of Displaced, Ministry of Environment, Electricite du Liban and the Directorate General of State security.

The PHP training met the following learning objectives:

How to set up PHP and MySQL on your server
Programming fundamentals of the PHP language, including scalar variables, arrays, statements, conditionals, loops, and more
Storing and retrieving data from files via PHP
Advanced techniques for working with PHP arrays
Techniques for using String functions and regular expressions to validate users’ form submissions and other data
Code reuse and function writing
Object-oriented PHP techniques
Session control via PHP
MySQL configuration and basic use
Building database-driven PHP applications that interact with MySQL data via SQL queries and stored procedures
Dynamic email creation via PHP
PHP debugging techniques
